LapRabbit ("the app") is a pace-timer app for Apple Watch, published by mcquarrie.cc. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it's used.
LapRabbit records the sets you run as workouts in Apple Health, using Apple's HealthKit framework. Specifically, each set you start and finish creates a workout entry containing:
To record the items above into your workout, watchOS requires the app to hold read permission for them, so LapRabbit requests read access to heart rate, active energy, resting energy, and water temperature. This permission exists so that data can be collected into the workout in the first place — without it, your saved swim would contain no heart rate or calorie information at all.
LapRabbit never reads your Health history. It performs no queries against your Health records — not for past workouts, not for earlier heart-rate data, not for anything outside the set you are currently swimming. The app itself uses exactly one value: your average heart rate for that set, shown on the finished screen, taken from the live workout session as it ends rather than looked up afterwards. Nothing else is read back out, and none of it feeds the pacing display, which is computed separately from lap-completion events rather than sensor samples. LapRabbit does not read your age, weight, or other body measurements, and does not use GPS.
Health permissions are granted per data type, and cannot be limited to a span of time or to workouts a particular app created. Granting read access to heart rate therefore covers your whole history, and your device will tell you so. That is a description of what the permission permits, not of what LapRabbit does with it.
These read permissions are optional. Decline them and pacing is unaffected; your swim is still recorded, simply without heart-rate or calorie detail. Only permission to save workouts is required for the watch app to function.
Your Setup screen preferences (lengths, time, countdown, pool length, and units) are stored only in the app's local settings on your watch. They are never transmitted anywhere.
Workout data is written to Apple Health solely so your set is recorded as a real workout, and so the app can request the display-power and Water Lock privileges an active workout session unlocks on watchOS. LapRabbit does not use this data for any other purpose.
All data stays on your device, governed by Apple's Health app and its own privacy protections. LapRabbit has no servers of its own, does not transmit any data over the network, and does not share, sell, or provide your data to any third party. We have no access to your Health data once it's written — only you, through the Health app, control it.
LapRabbit contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
You can review or revoke LapRabbit's access to Health data at any time on your iPhone, in the Health app → Sharing → Apps → LapRabbit, or under Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → LapRabbit. On the Apple Watch app, permission to save workouts is required — its pacing display depends on a real Health workout session to detect each length, so if that is revoked, the watch app shows a screen asking you to grant it again rather than continuing to pace. The read permissions described above are optional: decline them and pacing still works exactly the same, your saved swim just records less alongside it (no heart rate or calorie data). The iPhone app's own pacing session requires no Health access at all and is unaffected either way.
LapRabbit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them beyond what's described above, which is identical regardless of the user's age.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "Last updated" date.

In no event shall the author be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with LapRabbit or its use.
LapRabbit is a training aid, not a safety device. It does not monitor your wellbeing, cannot detect distress, and cannot summon help. Nothing it displays or records should be treated as medical information. Never swim alone, and never rely on LapRabbit in place of your own judgement or a lifeguard.
