LapRabbit is a pacing tool for pool swimmers. You tell it how many lengths you want to swim and how long the whole set should take, and it works out the target pace for you — no mid-swim math against a stopwatch required. Every time you touch the wall, a glance at the display tells you whether you're ahead of pace or behind.
The two apps show this differently, since they work differently under the hood:
The number on screen climbs continuously in real time toward what you should be finishing right now, and you compare it yourself to the length you just actually touched. See the iPhone Instructions for the full explanation, with examples.
The watch does that comparison for you: using a real Health workout session to detect the end of each length automatically, it shows how far ahead or behind your target distance you actually are, updating only when you finish a length rather than climbing continuously. See the Watch Instructions for the full explanation, including why Health access is required.
